2.5″BSP Immersion Heater.
2.5″BSP Immersion Heater
Description
A 2.5″BSP Immersion Heater is highly unusual & rather unfortunate. There is no benefit to the extra size (circumference of 236 mm and a diameter of 72mm), over & above 2.25″BSP, which is the Industrial standard here in the UK.
To my knowledge, nobody makes 2″BSP Immersion Heater to stock, cos they are as rare as hens teeth. Instead you take a standard, stock 2.25″BSP heater, and screw one of these onto it…
This one is 2″ up to 2.5″ and is a bargain at 40 quid. JRE Precision in LuffBruff used to make such items for me, but John is now far too rich to mess about with the piddly little volumes I need. PHS might have some in my old shed, if my son can find them.
- Available at any kW loading from 1000w up to 27kW.
- Available with 2 thermowell at 7, 11 or 18″ for thermostats / cutouts.
- 2 x M25 cable entry glands as standard.
- Available with no thermowell if specified by the client. If you don’t need it, omit it from the build, as it is an unecessary weak point.

As it is the industrial standard size, you will hopefully be able to take stock items off the shelf if you need a multiple of 3 in terms of kW power. If your dimensions are limiting or your power needs terribly specific, we will need a bespoke item, and probably best, a chat to fine tune things. Call Jamie on 07897 246 779 to discuss, in order to co-design the best heater to suit your needs. Your maximum immersed length will be key, so get your tape measure out, keep it stiff, and stick it through your hole to see how long we can go with those looped elements. And don’t have a stat pocket unless you really need one. There are benefits to having your heater made bespoke as it allows you to precisely hit your requirements, rather than taking a “Best Fit” off the shelf.

Useful Industrial Immersion Heaters Background information.
Industrial Heating elements are a resistance coil wire (producing heat), encased in magnesium oxide (the white powder, compacted by rolling down from 10mm to 8mm, for protection of wire & insulation purposes, bizarrely) encased in a usually stainless steel tube. For more detailed written explanation, click here. For a video explanation by some bloke with a really boring voice, click above.
Just for clarification, an Immersion Heater (see below) is 3 such elements (as image above) on a screwplug with a terminal box housing the connections. Cuz we all speak diffrent!
